What does being a GGS mean to you?
Being a girl gone strong to me, means having the self-discipline to make my body stronger and more capable each and every week. I know that everyday won’t be my best but the work I put in each day will make me progressively better in every aspect of my life.  Being a girl gone strong helps me take myself less seriously and I am continually amazed with what my body is capable of.  I love my muscles and wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world, strong is who I am!

staceyschaedler-spotlight-tgu-379x338How long have you been training?
Like a lot of people, I used exercise to “get away “ from the difficult parts of my life when I was growing up.  I used to run, run, run, and run some more, until my orthopedic surgeon said that I was well on my way to a double knee replacement.  I was forced to find another option.

At 22 I began studying and experimenting with what the body needs to be strong and pain free. Self-myofascial release, mobility, and strength combined to create the ultimate body. With some basic mobility, glute strength, and core stability… what do ya know? My knees didn’t bother me anymore!

The fact of the matter is, a smart strength training program can help even the most “injured” person!

Favorite Lift:
Turkish Get Up! My two favorite things in the world are yoga and kettlebells. In my opinion the Turkish Get Up is the perfect package; perfectly demonstrating stability, mobility and strength.

Pulling 225 and having it feel light. I am a kettlebell girl at heart. So when I decided to learn the big lifts with proper coaching and technique I was not great at them! Thankfully I had an amazing coach, who said I could train with the big boys in the “SHED” once I hit 225.  Five months into training the deadlift… I was in the SHED with the boys!

Top 5 songs on your training playlist:

  1. Sweet Nothing by Calvin Harris (ft Florence)
  2. Break You Off by The Roots
  3. Hold You by Gyptian
  4. Back That Azz Up by Juvenile
  5. The Zepher Song by Red Hot Chili Peppers

Top 3 things you must have with you at the gym/in your gym bag:

  • Headband
  • Yoga Tune Up Balls
  • music

Favorite post-workout meal:
Eggs, salsa, veggies and Food For Life Brown Rice Toast

Favorite way to treat yourself:
Yasso Greek Yogurt Bars!

Favorite quote:

“Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.”

staceyschaedler-spotlight1-yoga-sunset-silhouette-450x338It took some very hard times to realize that I already had everything that I was looking for. I searched for outside approval, sacrificed my own beliefs as well as my body, until I almost lost everything that was important to me. My advice to everyone out there is that you already have everything you need within you.

What inspires and motivates you?
This year I will be 33. I got married and pregnant last year and I have always admired the hell out of women who work, raise their kids and keep their health a top priority!

Next Training Goal:
Delivery a healthy baby in May!

What do you want to say to other women who might be nervous to start lifting heavy?
Strength training can give you a gift that nothing else can. Confidence, self- discipline and the power to change your body more than you ever thought possible. When done properly it can help you remain pain free as you age.  You are never too old or too young to start!
